Why the best interface is just enough of an interface

The less interface, the better

  1. Take key out of pocket or bag
  2. Press the unlock button
Is a mobile app really the best way to unlock your car?

The problem with no interface

Just enough of an interface

The Amazon Echo Show provides just enough of an interface with the inclusion of a screen

Designing just enough of an interface

1. Reduce the need for an interface within the user journey

2. Reduce needless UI elements and interactions within the interface

3. Utilise voice interactions where it makes sense to do so

4. Use AI to deliver a personalised interface

By predicting what information will be useful and when Google Now reduces the need for users to interact with the interface

5. Test the interface with users
